Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
Wahkiakum 4-H has awarded Taya Deal a scholarship in the amount of $1,500 to continue "making the best better" in our world. Taya has been a 4-H member for 13 years and been involved in multiple project areas over the years including poultry, needlework, creative arts, fiber arts, photography, rabbits, food preservation, baking, gardening, foods and nutrition, and theater arts.
When asked what she has learned from her time in 4-H Taya responded, "When it comes to the 4-H pledge, my head to clearer thinking has been through the various competitions and demonstrations and how I am able to stay calm and have confidence. My heart will always be loyal to 4-H and the values I learned about animals, nature, crafts, and hard work. My hands will always be working to help people and hopefully teach younger people how to follow their own passions. My health goes to the fact I now appreciate gardening, have respect for animals, and the environment and planet we all share."
Taya will attend Western Washington University this Fall as an honor student where she plans to pursue theater and education.
