Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

Library summer reading program begins June 16

The Tails & Tales Children’s Summer Reading Program will start soon, with fun animal-themed stories, crafts and activities at Erickson Park on Columbia Street, Wednesdays, June 16-August 4, from 1-2 p.m. or later for children ages 5-15. Children should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The complete activity schedule will be published soon.

The library is currently open for six patrons at a time to select books for checkout. Hours are 2-5 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays.

They are also using a new online application, Beanstack, to register readers, and let them log reading minutes, and review books, to earn badges and reading incentive prizes. Paper registration forms and logging forms will be available on the library website for those who don’t have access to a computer, and at the library.

This year they are also offering a reading challenge for families of Pre-K children, 1,000 Books before Kindergarten, and one for Adults/Older Teens, Cathlamet 2021 Reading Challenge (Minutes), with opportunities for the teens and adults to earn badges and tickets they can place on drawings for prizes.

Look for the Beanstack website to go live: !
