Anna Hill

Longtime area resident, loving mom, and beloved friend, Anna Mae Hill, passed away March 27, 2021, at her home in Longview, Wash., at the age of 81. Anna was born November 5, 1939, in Kelso, Wash., to Stewart and Sara Downs. Anna grew up with six siblings, Betty, Grace, Mary, James, Stewart, and Robert. She graduated from Kelso High School in 1958, and married William E. Cope in 1962. The couple had a daughter, Sharon, who made her appearance in 1963. The couple divorced in 1967, but remained friends the rest of their lives. In 1969, Anna married Walter Hill. This marriage also ended.

Anna was what could best be described as a 'Jill of All Trades,' and enjoyed doing different types of work. When she was first starting out on her own, for instance, she was a gas station attendant at Dooley's Store, and took night classes to learn shorthand. Her favorite pastime was hosting Tupperware parties for friends and family. Anna was a voracious reader, and had an outstanding memory. Despite her challenges, she always had a beautiful smile and greeted everyone she met with an energetic 'Why, hello, Sweetie, how are you?' She will be missed.

Anna is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sharon Jeffries; bonus children, Bill Cope, Doris Cozad, Diane Swidol, Teresa Petersen; and lots of grandchildren. At her request, there will be no services. In Memory of Anna, her family asks that readers consider donating to their local Humane Society, or to Breast Cancer and Mental Health research. Last but not least, a big 'Thank You' goes out to the caring staff at Frontier Rehab & Extended Care Center, for the wonderful care they have provided.
