Communities around the region have declared April of 2021 to be Invest Local Month. Investing locally directly impacts the community you live in; it builds resilience and wealth in our communities, creates ripple effects of economic impact, and can support businesses of all sizes. Investing locally includes many actions - from investing in yourself through education and self-care, to supporting your network by giving time and energy to those you care about, to supporting the businesses you love in your community by purchasing local goods or services or investing in a new idea, to supporting your community through voting and volunteerism, and the list goes on.
Several activities are available throughout the region to help you participate in Invest Local Month. The list of these activities is available at http://www.cwcog.org.
The City of Kalama, City of Kelso, City of Longview, Cowlitz County, Town of Cathlamet, and Wahkiakum County have all formally proclaimed April as Invest Local Month. The effort has been organized by Lower Columbia Investment Network program of the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments, the Cowlitz Economic Development Council, Lower Columbia College, and the Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce.
The Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments is a multi-purpose association of governments that delivers a diverse array of federal, state, and local programs while fulfilling its primary function as a regional planning organization.
