Freshman Avery Wiltse-Hiatt spent her spring break playing three rounds of golf in Arizona, and it paid off as she led the Wahkiakum Mules boys golf team to victory with a 49, finishing fourth in a five-team, 16-person golf match at Newaukum Valley Golf Course in Chehalis on April 12.

North Beach’s Maverick Ashe and Columbia Adventist’s Breiden Ermshar shared medalist honors, both posting a 44. Winlock’s Joe Welch shot 48 for third, Mules Kaleo Silva and Braxton Johns tied for fifth shooting 51.

The Mules moved their season record to 12-1, posting a four-ball score of 204, edging North Beach 210. Winlock played a full team for the first time and posted 228 while Columbia Adventist and Mary M. Knight were both incomplete.

The Mules hosted undefeated Adna, Northwest Christian and Toutle Lake yesterday (Wednesday). They head to Kalama next Monday and to Adna on Tuesday to close out the season.
