Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The Wahkiakum Mules golf team last week traveled to Chehalis where the host Adna Pirates handed the Mules their first loss of the season, 215-231. The Mules picked up two wins with the loss as both Toutle Lake and Winlock fielded incomplete appearances.
Mule Logan LaBerge had an off day but still managed to card a 46 securing first place by three strokes over Adna’s Braeden Salme. Mule freshman Avery Wiltse-Hiatt, who shot 59, was the only girl in the 14-player event and finished seventh in the match.
We needed her to complete the team of six players because a schedule conflict had our number two player, Brody Carlson, at a baseball game, ironically against the Pirates. Also playing for the Mules were Braxton Johns (61), Kaleo Silva (65) and Kyler Sauce (66).
The Mules' season record stands at 5-1. The Mules hosted Winlock and Columbia Adventist yesterday (Wednesday); their next match is scheduled April 12 at Winlock.
