Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
You never know where you will find inspiration.
For Becka Roland and Ronnie Rhyner, the new owners of Skamokawa Farmstead Creamery, it was a romantic movie on TV about a life changed and love found on a goat farm.
Three weeks after watching the movie, Roland came across the listing for the property in Skamokawa. It was kismet, as far as the two were concerned.
The pair have been there since the end of October and are getting to know their 70 goats, three horses, three donkeys, and peahens as Roland waits to finish her last shift as an ER nurse in February, and Rhyner, who has had a career in construction, makes changes around their new farm.
Roland is already making plans to make goat milk soap and lotion while they await the return of former owner Vicki Allenback, who has promised to teach them what she knows about cheese making.
Watch this space, as they say.
