Festival of Lights was a great success

The Naselle Finnish American Folk Festival and the Naselle Archives Center recently sponsored a Festival of Lights for the community and visitors alike.

Nine local organizations and three families donated homemade Christmas wreaths. All the wreaths sold out early. Drive by visitors came to the local Finn Fest Community Center to view and purchase the wreaths in the parking lot.

With extra donations that were generously given towards the sale, a total of $1327 was taken in. The monies were divided up and distributed to benefit the Naselle Finn Fest Community Center, the Deep River Church, the Naselle Food Bank, the school cheerleading program, the class of 2023, the Coast Pregnancy Center, the Clatsop Community Action, the Clatsop County Animal Shelter and local 4-H groups.

The Soup Supper was held at the Appelo Archives Center Café and was also a huge success. Visitors ordered ahead and picked up to go orders.

The community was very generous; between the soup donations, popcorn, hot cocoa, bakery and bookstore items the Archives Center took in a total of $500.

On Saturday, December 12, Santa made an appearance at the Archives Center for a photo op. The Archives Center has also been hosting a holiday bazaar, book sale and record sale. Fresh cut Christmas trees along with more wreaths continue to sell at the Archives Center.

The Archives Café now has seated food service outside with the help of heaters and a beautiful donated table made by Michael Wilbanks who designed it in honor of his wife, Elaine Hedlund Wilbanks.

The café is serving to-go orders (Full breakfast and lunch, soups and sandwiches).
