Customers of the Town of Cathlamet and Puget Island Water systems were under a boil water order last week after a water main was ruptured along the Elochoman Valley Road on Sept. 23.
"The Wahkiakum County Road Department was attempting to clear a culvert, and the bucket on their excavator slipped, hitting the main," reported Sarah Clark, town clerk/treasurer. "The road crew assisted our public works department with the repairs."
The town immediately issued the boil water order concerning possible contamination entering the water system.
The crews were able to repair the leak that evening (Wednesday), and on Thursday, after receiving confirmation from the Washington State Department of Health, Clark announced that the boil water advisory is no longer necessary and lifted effective immediately.
