Sen. Takko Helps Town Celebrate New Flagpole

The Town of Cathlamet is pleased to announce a flag-raising event to celebrate installation of the new Town flagpole and honor flag donations from local Veteran Bob Roche (USA flag donation), and State Senator Dean Takko (Washington State flag donation). The Town would like to also recognize and send thanks to Steve Sharp, who donated the actual flagpole to the Town. Without Steve’s donation, this event and flag display would not be possible.

A flag-raising ceremony raising Old Glory and the State Flag for the first time on the new Town flagpole will take place Tuesday, August 25th at 11:00 am at Cathlamet Town Hall, 375 2nd St, Cathlamet, WA. Flag Donors Bob Roche and State Senator Takko will be on hand and will take part in the flag raising ceremony.

The public is invited to attend.

The new Town flagpole was acquired at the direction of Cathlamet Mayor Dale Jacobson. Mayor Jacobson personally oversaw arrangements to acquire and install the new Town flagpole. The only direct expense incurred by the Town was the pully system attached to the pole.

Mayor Jacobson offered the following statement: “The Town is proud to dedicate our new flagpole and accept flag donations from local resident and Veteran Bob Roche as well as Senator Takko. In addition, I want to acknowledge the assistance of Cathlamet Mayor Pro Tem Robert Stowe for helping coordinate the flag-raising ceremony and Wahkiakum County Commissioner Mike Backman for additional assistance.”

After the flag raising ceremony, both flags will be proudly displayed at Town Hall on the new flag pole.

In inviting the public to attend and participate in the inaugural flag raising ceremony event, the Town reminds all attendees to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
