The Wahkiakum County Port 1 Board of Commissioners met briefly last Thursday to go over a few issues and schedule a budget and rate workshop.
There has long been a receptacle at the port where people could dispose of their used oil. A service company used to empty it for free but no longer do so, and the port is considering how to move forward.
Port Manager Jackie Lea asked the board to think about implementing a policy or cancel fees for yacht clubs who have been reserving spots and either canceling at the last minute or showing up with fewer boats than expected.
The commissioners will continue to discuss the matter at a budget and rate workshop scheduled for September 8, at 1 p.m.
The port is sending out for bids for a viewing deck planned on the waterfront, which will be due by the port meeting on September 10.
“Everything is good to go,” Maintenance Supervisor Todd Souvenir said. “Hopefully we get a few people to bid on it.
The new camp site at the end of the jetty has been leveled, and they are ready to plant grass sometime in September.
