The Naselle/Grays River Valley School District Board of Directors met virtually for its monthly meeting on June 16 at 6:30 p.m. This was the third virtual meeting of the board by virtue of Governor Inslee’s mandate regarding open public meetings.
After approval of the consent agenda, the board acknowledged the resignation of Angela Metcalf, assistant cook, and approved the hire of Raelynn Nelson, elementary teacher, pending a background check.
In other matters of business, the board approved a resolution granting authority to WIAA for school athletics. The following were declared surplus: a 2005 Thomas school bus, a 2000 GMC Savana van, and miscellaneous technology supplies. The contracts of non-represented employees were also approved.
New interim Principal Justin Laine shared an overview of recent survey results from parents who provided feedback regarding the school closure and the district’s academic delivery models.
The next board meeting is scheduled for July 21, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be preceded by a budget hearing at 5 p.m.
