Republican Joel McEntire announced April 9 that he will run for the state House of Representatives for the 19th District. “Today we begin our campaign to guarantee that the people of Southwest Washington will be heard in Olympia,” said McEntire.
McEntire, a fourth generation resident of Southwest Washington, stressed his commitment to our community, “Our little corner of the world is a gem. It offers not only beauty, but opportunities to work and raise a family. I was raised in the 19th District, and I intend to raise my family here. I hope my grandchildren will live here.”
McEntire pledged to stand up for our area when elected:
· Protect the lives and livelihoods of the people during the COVID-19 crisis,
· Defend our local values in a state dominated by Seattle politicians,
· Work for good schools and good jobs.
“From here, for here,” summarized McEntire.
This is McEntire’s second campaign for the legislature, he ran previously in 2018 despite having been mobilized as a Marine Corps reservist for an overseas deployment. Joel and his wife Margaret live in the family home built by Joel’s father in Cathlamet with their children Lily, Aiden and Daisy. Joel previously served as a teacher at J.C. Thomas Middle School, and today works as a program mentor for Western Governors University.
