Pharmacy strives for service, safety

Unusual times call for unusual procedures.

Normally, the Cathlamet Pharmacy would be pleased to see shoppers wandering amiably in the aisles of their store and perusing their wares, but these days, they are trying to discourage that kind of behavior in order to protect community members with compromised immunity who are there to pick up prescriptions.

In order to do that, they are asking customers to have an idea of what they are looking for before they arrive, or even feel free to call ahead to find out if the pharmacy is carrying the item.

They have installed sneeze guards to protect employees and, as Pharmacist Laurie Miller says, “They’ve been cleaning, cleaning, cleaning.”

People are still coming in to pick up prescriptions, but staff is willing to deliver curbside for anyone who is ailing and would prefer not to come into the store.

“Customers have been kind and happy we are here,” Miller said. “We feel the same.”
