The Naselle/Grays River Valley School District Board of Directors met for its monthly meeting on Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the Middle School Commons.
After approval of the consent agenda, re-elected Board Member Chuck Hendrickson was sworn into office, and then the board re-elected him as chairman and Amy Hunt as vice chair.
Review of the procedures for the Gender-Inclusive Schools policy continued with the Board receiving a variety of comments from a handful of citizens.
The following policies were adopted: 4215 (Use of Tobacco, Nicotine Products and Delivery Devices) and 5404 (Family, Medical and Maternity Leave).
A first read of Graduation Policy 2410 was conducted and presented by counselor Justin Laine and Principal Steve Doyle. A first read of Policy 1310, Policy Adoption, Manuals, and Administrative Procedures was also conducted.
Superintendent Lisa Nelson reported that the district had received a $50,000 planning grant to develop some early documents and a preliminary cost analysis for modernization of the music/vocational wing.
Volleyball coach Rebekah Wirkkala was presented a plaque for earning Coach of the Year for the Columbia Valley League.
The next regular school Board meeting will be Jan. 21 in the middle school commons beginning at 6:30 p.m.
