The Light Parade

The second annual Lighted Christmas Parade and the added Holiday Market was a hit with visitors to the Elochoman Slough Marina and Main Street in Cathlamet on Saturday.

"Super wowza," Organizer and Cathlamet resident Paige Lake said on Tuesday. "I wasn't sure I wanted to take this on, but people love it. The marina was completely jammed with people shopping the vendor fair and Main Street was full of spectators."

There were 22 entries in the parade, and Lake, who would like to keep this a hometown event, is considering capping the number of entries in the future to 30.

"Just local community family fun," she said.

The event was hosted by the Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce. River Mile 38 Brewery and Port 1 set up the vendor fair and bonfires and the port sold lots of s'mores kits. The brewery had a special mulled wine for the event, as well as their usual selection, and Maria's Taco Stand was open to provide food as well.

Lake is grateful for everyone who stepped up to help, including Nicci Bergseng, Ali Brinker, the Sheriff's Office and Reserves.
