Christmas light parade set for December 14

If you missed the Wahkiakum Lighted Christmas Parade last year, don’t worry, this year is shaping up to be even bigger and better. More good news is that the Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce has kindly offered to host the parade and cover the insurance required to operate on town streets so we can have an even bigger procession.

This event just keeps getting better. The Elochoman Marina and River Mile 38 Brewing Co. are also joining in the fun this year with a long list of activities for young and old alike. Some of the plans include a holiday market and a trunk sale where you can shop for one of a kind gifts, a bonfire with S’mores kits, Santa photo booth and ornament painting. The brewery will be serving spiced mulled wine for the adults, and Maria’s will be cooking up some fun treats as well.

Rain or shine this will be a great event--watching the Christmas lights in motion. Anything you can put lights on can be entered in the parade including tractors, lawn mowers, cars, trucks, trailers, boats, floats, horses, dogs, people, you name it. How about a wagon of carolers or a lighted hay ride? Boats are also welcome to light up the marina and the nearby river.

Having a bigger parade means that we will need some traffic safety officials and equipment which we estimate will cost around $250. If you would like to help cover these costs with a donation, it would be greatly appreciated.

Save the date, Dec. 14; the fun all starts at 3 p.m. and the parade at 6 p.m.

Vendor and Parade applications are available at Elochoman Marina, Skamokawa General Store, Rosburg Store, Johnson Park, River Mile 38, Bank of the Pacific Cathlamet Branch and Wahkiakum County Auditor’s office or download it from our Facebook event page. There is no fee to enter this year. If you would like more information about your parade entry contact Paige Lake 360 269-6737. Interested in being a vendor?
