The Wahkiakum Mules volleyball team added one to their win column this week, beating Rainier on the road.
The Lady Mules beat the Mountaineers in four sets: 23-25, 25-19, 25-12, and 25-15.
“We came out a little flat but the girls worked hard to come back and turn it around,” Coach Kayli Hurley said. “This was an important win for us going into post season.”
Jansi Merz had 10 kills and four blocks. Nai’a Freeman, Nalani Schultz, and Jordyn Watson added four kills apiece. Watson also had nine digs. Rebekah Neves had three kills and 11 digs. Solana Stanley had eight digs and was 100 percent from the service line.
The Lady Mules played their final game of the regular season at home on Wednesday night against Winlock. The score was not available by press time.
The team was 6-3 in league as of Tuesday, and 7-5 overall, putting them in fourth place in the Central 2B league. If they hold their position, they will likely play North Beach at Willapa Valley on November 2 at 10 a.m in the first round of district play. The loser will go to a loser out game at 1 p.m., and the winner will move to the quarterfinals at 2:30 p.m. Watch the Wahkiakum Eagle Sports Report page on Facebook for updates.
