Russian collusion morphed into Ukrainian corruption

To The Eagle:

The tutorial on fact and opinion in these pages last week was wide of the mark enough to be reminiscent of Alice’s adventures with the Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts. We the public have been treated to a three year long fact-free perquisition under the rubric of Russian conspiracy and collusion in which the prevarications have emanated from the press, not the president, the most egregious among them being the Washington Post, New York Times, CNN, and MSNBC. Paradoxically, the main source of hard fact during the witch-hunt has been opinion journalism, personified by Limbaugh, Levin, Larson, and Hannity. Fox News has wavered a bit of late, but is still reasonably reliable.

Having fizzled spectacularly, Russia collusion has morphed into Ukrainian corruption, leading to a bizarre Kabuki-style impeachment inquiry based on a fictional script of a presidential phone call, including complaints by fake whistle blowers and star chamber hearings with selective fabulated leaks to feed the fake news media. There are a few facts lying around, but they have been abused, battered, and twisted since they mostly point toward crimes and misdemeanors of Obama, Hillary, and Biden.

So our FOE (Fact & Opinion Expert) takes aim at the president who has done more than any other for minorities, women, first responders, and foreign allies and labels him a “truculent nationalist and fascist bigot,” denigrates us Trump supporters, and then sings a paean to his own “higher standard.” The Mad Hatter had it right: “...everything would be what it isn’t. And ... what is, it wouldn’t be. And what it wouldn’t be, it would. You see?”
