Zimmerman wins writing awards

Wahkiakum County Eagle reporter Diana Zimmerman won three writing awards in the 2019 Washington Newspaper Publishers Association Better Newspaper Contest.

In the category General Feature Story, Long, she placed second for a story about a leatherwork business and third for a history of the Puget Island ferry.

In the category General Feature Story, Short, she placed first for a story about a porcupine adopting a family.

The contest included 58 newspapers of varying circulation sizes, which were broken up into four categories. Zimmerman won these awards in the category for newspapers with circulation of 2,500 and under.
