One set on the Cathlamet Town Council has drawn two candidates, Janis Dodril and Bill Wainwright
Janis Dodrill is one of two candidates vying for the Town of Cathlamet Councilman #2 position. This is what she had to say:
"I love this town. I grew up here," Dodrill said. "I came back to Cathlamet because I was born and raised here. My mom passed, and I left West Virginia and brought her ashes back. I promised her. I put them in the river I almost drowned in.
"I saw certain things had changed," she said. "I started going to the town council meetings. I was opposed to the park. I remember this town being really fun. I'm sorry to say this but I've seen some people that have moved here that don't share the same memories of my youth, the first bee stings, the kisses in the park, so I feel a little biased there."
"I want to see some more amenities for people who aren't as fortunate to own property," Dodrill added. "Jobs. Where is our laundry? I don't see why our library isn't open to some of the families here that I know struggle and need internet access, not just between 2-5 p.m."
Dodrill has always been fascinated with state and local government and has an associates degree in legal assisting.
"I discovered a passion for law," Dodrill said. "I love to learn."
"It isn't about winning or losing," Dodrill said of her candidacy. "I just did it because I love this place. I've never done anything like this, but enlighten me. I'm just a blue collar, hard working girl."
