Lady Mules dump T-wolves, Lady Loggers

The Wahkiakum Mules volleyball team added two more games to their win column this week.

The Lady Mules hosted Morton/White Pass on Tuesday, and beat the Timberwolves in three sets: 25-13, 26-24, and 25-16.

"We had a night that was full of energy," Coach Kayli Hurley said. "Our bench was hyped and that bled out onto the court. MWP has a couple good weapons but our defense was scrappy."

Jansi Merz had eight kills. Asia Taccori added five more. Hurley praised Taccori, Solana Stanley, Shantelle Shervey, Amaya Jones, and Jordyn Watson for "stellar serve receive," and noted that Aubrie Montgomery "came in and fired off some big serves."

"Overall," she said, "it was a great team effort."

Last Thursday, the Lady Mules traveled to Onalaska and won three sets easily: 25-16, 25-12, 25-16.

"We came out fired up and playing strong on both sides of the ball," Coach Hurley said. "My defense was super scrappy and we did a great job of keeping the ball in play."

Merz had 14 kills. Watson had five kills, five aces, and 11 digs. MJ Neves and Courtney Carlson had 15 and 8 assists, respectively. Hurley praised Taccori, Stanley, and Shervey for their "scrappy defense."

The Lady Mules are 2-0 in league. They travel to Toutle Lake this evening (Thursday).
