Mike Turner will bring creative solutions

To The Eagle:

I am writing today to recommend Mike Turner for the position of Superior Court Judge. Mike was born and raised in Raymond and spent most of his life in Pacific County serving that community. He has been involved in numerous Pacific County community activities and organizations throughout his life.

Mike has proven that he is aware of the difficulties a non-lawyer participant in our legal system faces. Mike has stated “without the help of an attorney, even the most simple legal matter requires understanding of the rules and procedures set forth for the legal process.” One of his goals is to identify ways to ease this burden for the residents of Pacific/Wahkiakum counties.

Mike also has a plan to seek out opportunities to reduce operational costs and operate more efficiently. Let’s face it, there is never enough money to accomplish what needs to be done. New directives are continuing to come to the court and to the county which require a greater level of service which means more money, yet there isn’t enough for what is already mandated. Mike has plans to seek out creative solutions to this growing problem. His plan is to research any grant funding that may reasonably be available, check with other jurisdictions for ideas and, talk with others for ideas on how to reduce costs and operate more efficiently.

Over the last 30 plus years Mike has always taken his role in jurisprudence seriously and is passionate about results. Mike is a natural leader and fights hard for his beliefs. His experience includes Attorney in general practice, Pacific County Hearing Examiner (20 years), Pacific County Superior Court Commissioner, Pacific County North District Judge (pro-tem), Municipal Court Judge in Long Beach and Ilwaco, Municipal Court Judge, Raymond and South Bend and is currently a Judge (Tax Referee) for the Washington State Board of Tax Appeals.

I have the deepest personal and professional respect for Mike and sincerely believe he will bring his unique energy, optimism, passion, and tireless creativity to this office. Mike has the common-sense approach and drive needed to make a difference in the future of our region. He has my highest endorsement.

If I read this letter correctly, Mr. Turner's plan to reduce costs is to consult with others and THEN figure out what the court should do. Am I summarizing his position fairly here? Where is the substance???
