Free CERT training offered in Pacific County in October

The Pacific County Emergency Management Agency (PCEMA) is offering a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course in South Bend. The Training is strategically scheduled to precede the “Great Washington ShakeOut.”

Training is scheduled as follows:

· Saturday, October 5 - 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

· Sunday, October 6 - 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

· Saturday, October 12 - 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

· Sunday, October 13 - 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

The course will be held in South Bend at a location to be confirmed. Pre-registration is required and the class has a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 24 participants.

The CERT program is an all-risk, all-hazard training. This valuable course is designed to help you protect yourself, your family, your neighbors, and your neighborhood in an emergency situation. CERT members receive 29 hours of initial training provided free of charge. The course is taught with classroom instruction for the first three days and practical exercises during the last day. Participants under the age of 18 must have parent/guardian permission to attend.
