Tsuga Gallery honoring Goodroe

Tsuga Gallery has announced the featured artist of the month is the late David Goodroe.

"Even though he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on," the announcement states. "Goodroe was a friend, teacher, mentor and more. His love of art was displayed by his enthusiasm and compassion.

"Goodroe started painting with watercolors in the 1970’s but it wasn’t until the early 1990’s that he had time to cultivate his abilities in different mediums such as oil paints, pastels, and pen and ink. His oil paintings reflect his interest in the human body in portrait like, romantic settings.

"Many of Goodroe’s paintings contain female subjects in a variety of time periods, moods, and styles. Goodroe’s still life oil paintings are often muted and done in the style of the old Dutch masters. Goodroe was passionate about art and challenged other artists to define their own personal style and perfect it.

"Tsuga Gallery is proud to be able to display Goodroe’s artwork, with many pieces for sale. This may be the only chance to purchase one of Goodroe’s original works. Part of the proceeds from each sale will go to the David Goodroe Memorial Scholarship Fund, set up by Tsuga Gallery to help aspiring young artists with art supplies.

"Tsuga Gallery will host a tribute to Goodroe on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Tsuga Gallery."
