Gordon Holland

Gordon Earl Holland, 96, of Longview, passed away on July 1, 2019, 44 days after the love of his life, Marie, passed.

Gordon was born November 11, 1922 to Ole and Hilda Holland on Puget Island. He left school in the 8th grade to become a commercial fisherman and for 70 years fished in Alaska and on the Columbia.

In WWII, Gordon was a Marine PFC anti-aircraft gunner. He was a Longview resident for 72 years; a member of the American Legion, Eagles, Moose Lodge and the Elks for 65 years. When not commercial fishing he would sport fish, hunt deer and elk, mend nets for fishermen and craft wood needles.

Gordon loved chocolate, was easy going, hardworking, loved to joke, and swore like a sailor. Gordon married, later divorced, Thelma Tover. He married Marie Moilanen September 2, 1954.

Survivors include Susan (Marc) Mattila, Barbara (Robert) Skreen and Loretta (Skip) Urling; grandchildren Andrea (Morgan) Aberle, Erik (Janelle) Skreen and Kelsey Urling; great grandchildren Taylor Aberle, Koen and Haakon Skreen. All live locally.

A Potluck Celebration of Life will be held at 5 p.m. on September 6 at the Longview Moose.
