State treasurer to visit Cathlamet

Washington State Treasurer Duane Davidson plans to visit Wahkiakum County officials at the county courthouse on Thursday, July 25, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Commissioner's third floor meeting room in Cathlamet. He will discuss some of the programs of the Office of the State Treasurer aimed at helping local governments and the citizens they serve.

In his third year as state treasurer, Davidson has increased access to resources for local governments and citizens alike. With the launch of the Washington Fund Directory, he helped local governments more easily locate funding necessary to complete projects and make purchases.

In the most recent legislative session Davidson helped to pass Substitute House Bill No. 1284, giving the Office of the State Treasurer the capacity to offer local governments a longer-term option for their investments.

In January of this year he partnered with financial education technology firm EverFi to launch free online financial education modules that help community members of all ages improve their knowledge of retirement plans, managing savings and checking accounts, handling credit responsibly, and many other important topics.

This will be Treasurer Davidson's first visit to Wahkiakum County in his capacity as state treasurer.
