Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
The Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce has announced some last-minute reminders concerning Bald Eagle Day, which include:
Main Street will be closed for all parking and through vehicle traffic from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the street vendor fair and parade (parade starts at noon). This includes the Bank of the Pacific parking lot, as the kid’s activities will be held there. Also, do not park on the parade route – look out for the “no parking” signs. The parade will start at Wahkiakum High School (you may park in the lot), go down Elm Street, Columbia Street, down Main Street, loop around the Marina and out to SR 4. The parade route will include the Elochoman Marina this year. You may drive and park in these places after the parade has concluded, around 2:00 p.m.
Ninety vendors are scheduled with crafts, clothing, pictures, food, and more from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Fire Department Water Ball event will be held after the parade.
