Summer program offering meals, activities gets underway next Monday

More great summer opportunities are available for families throughout Wahkiakum County.

The Outdoor Café program will provide free games, activities, craft projects and a healthy lunch for kids up to age 18. Meals and activities are offered at two sites, and volunteers will also deliver meals via the Wahkiakum On the Move bus service (see adjacent article).

In Cathlamet, Outdoor Café 2019 kicks off July 8 in the J.A. Wendt Elementary Multi-purpose Room and runs July 8 – August 8, Monday-Thursday, 12 noon to 2 p.m.

In Rosburg, Outdoor Café West starts July 15 at Johnson Park and runs through August 15, Monday-Thursday, 12 noon to 2 p.m.

“Without a doubt, volunteers power our community,” commented spokesperson Suzanne Holmes. “There are countless opportunities to put your time, talents and resources to work for the benefit of your friends, neighbors, and family.

“For those who may be looking for places to play and make a difference for our kids this summer I encourage you to contact the following people to ask how you can help.”

“The Outdoor Café was made possible through generous private donations,” Holmes said. “We receive no public funds to operate. Our objective is building healthy kids for a healthy community.”
