Historical home tours to be held on Sunday

The Julia Butler Hansen House, built in 1867-68 will be open for tours on Sunday, June 23 from 10 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The house is located at the corner of Main and Butler Streets in Cathlamet.

The JBH House is the oldest house in Cathlamet and Wahkiakum County and was the home of the late Congresswoman Julia Butler Hansen. Four generations of the Kimball, Butler and Hansen families have resided in the house. The house contains the awards Julia Butler Hansen received during her 43 years in public office.

Also on exhibit are watercolors of early Cathlamet painted by Maude Kimball Butler, mother of Julia Butler Hansen.

Early photos of the JBH house will also be on exhibit. Tours will be given by David Hansen, Julia’s son.

There is no admission charge for house tours.
