Carl "Cobb" Cothren, 81, of Cathlamet, died on June 13th, 2019 at home in Cathlamet.
Carl was born to Thirl and Ethel (Dillehay) Cothren on May 22, 1938 in Hayesville, North Carolina. He grew up and attended school in North Carolina, moving to Cathlamet in 1956 to begin work as a logger. He worked in the logging industry for Crown Zellerbach in Cathlamet until they closed and spent several years logging in Ketchikan, Alaska. Upon his retirement in 1996, he had spent 40 years logging.
Carl spent the last 21 years with his childhood sweetheart Crystal Hanson, who survives him at home.
He is also survived by a daughter, Bettie Sorenson (Merle), a step-daughter, Denise English, two brothers, Royal Cothren (Patty), Drue Cothren (Linda), five sisters Meredith Clawson (Rick), Kathy Malcolm, Viola Clark (Ray), Brenda Settlemier (Dan), Janie Walls, a granddaughter, Courtney EdElbrock (Wade) and three great grandchildren, Reese, Hank and Chase, two sisters-in-law, Freddie Lee and Mary Cothren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carl was preceded in death by three brothers, Loman, Kenny and Paul, and two brothers-in-law, Gary Walls and Vic Malcolm.
A Graveside service will be held on Thursday June 20th at 11 a.m., at Greenwood Cemetery in Cathlamet. Donations in Carl's name may be made to Cathlamet Fire Department and EMT, P.O. Box 142, Cathlamet,WA 98612.
