The Naselle-Grays River Valley School District Board of Directors met for its monthly meeting on June 18 in the Middle School Commons.
In personnel matters, the board approved the hire of Aldrich Smith, JV boys’ basketball coach and the hire of Blake Updike, middle school basketball coach.
The board acknowledged the resignation Qin Xia, Mandarin teacher, due to her not being drawn through a lottery system for an H1-Visa. The District is pursuing other routes to obtain a Mandarin teacher for 2019-20.
In other personnel matters, the board conducted the final evaluation of the year for the Superintendent.
Also approved were the following: non-represented employment contracts, certificated employment contracts, contracts with ESD 112, resolution number 2019-6-18, an interlocal agreement for food service purchases, the purchase of computers and tablets with the Rural Education grant--not to exceed $35,000, and an $8,000 donation from the Naselle Congregational United Church of Christ for school programs.
Principal Quinn Donlon listed off the students who recently placed at State Track and Field and the middle school league track meet.
Donlon also reported the preliminary state test results that were recently released for grades 3-11.
The next regular school board meeting will be on July 16 in the Middle School Commons, beginning at 6:30 p.m., preceded by a budget hearing beginning at 5 p.m. The public is welcome to attend either or both meetings.
