Bridge work nearing end

The painting and deck replacement project for the Puget Island bridge is nearing completion.

Crews are currently working on sidewalk installation, and anticipate that work to finish within two weeks, according to information from Tamara Greenwell, Washington State Department of Transportation regional communications officer.

When the sidewalk work is complete, contractors will move to punch list items, which would include final deck improvements, Greenwell said.

The contractor has not yet provided a date for paving work, which may require bridge closures. Paving work will likely be scheduled sometime after the Fourth of July.
