Three seniors at Wahkiakum High School have signed letters of intent to play athletics at the collegiate level.
Charlie Ashe will play basketball next season at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia. Ashe received honorable mention in the All League Awards during her junior and senior years. Mule team awards include defensive player junior and senior year, Wahkiakum Captains Award, and most improved.
Luke Brown will join his brother Zach on the baseball team at Modesto Junior College, in Modesto, California. Brown was first team all league, all area and all state this year. He batted near .500 with five triples and 10 doubles, according to Coach Marc Niemeyer.
Macie Elliott has committed to play basketball at Eastern Oregon University in LaGrande, Oregon. She was recognized all four years of high school by the All League Awards. She made second team her freshman and sophomore years, first team her junior year, and was Co-MVP her senior year. This year she was named the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Year, the All Area Player of the Year, Wahkiakum Girls Basketball MVP, Wahkiakum Offensive Player of the Year, and Wahkiakum Miss Hustle. She also received the Wahkiakum Captains Award and had 1,500 career points.
