The Naselle/Grays River Valley School District Board of Directors met for its monthly meeting on May 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Middle School Commons.
In personnel matters, the board acknowledged the resignations of Brian Macy, head boys’ basketball coach, Steve McConnell, bus driver, and Quinn Donlon, K12 principal.
The board approved the hires of Kayti Updike, middle school volleyball coach, Stephen Doyle, K12 principal, William Olsen, head boys’ basketball coach, and summer contracts for employees at the Naselle Youth Camp.
In other matters of business, the board approved dividing the cheer coach stipend between Herlet Padilla and Blair Gray and approved the use of school facilities and transportation for youth summer programs and events. Principal Donlon acknowledged the students who recently placed sixth at the State Knowledge Bowl competition. Donlon also announced the middle school track athletes who had won respective league championship events for track and field at the recent meet. Donlon also reported that baseball, softball and track had all won their district championships this year. Baseball lost its regional game, and softball and track would start state competition later in the week.
Teacher Diane Bennett and several students attended the meeting to share their experiences and knowledge acquired from a recent trip to Washington, D.C. under the Close-Up program.
The board thanked Mr. Donlon for his service to the district and wished him well.
The next school board meeting will be June 18 in the Middle School Commons beginning at 6:30 p.m.
