Special meeting Monday to fill vacant council position

The Cathlamet Town Council will hold a special meeting Monday to fill a vacant seat on the council.

The meeting will be held in the DeBriae Fire Hall Meeting Room starting at 3 p.m.

Two people have applied to fill the vacancy, Acting Clerk/Treasurer Sylvia Costich said Friday. They are Robert Stowe and David Olson.

The council plans to meet in executive session to review the candidates' applications. The council can then reconvene in open session to interview the candidates and act on a motion to appoint one to fill the vacancy.

The position will be on the fall election ballot for a two-year unexpired term created with the resignation of Tanya Waller earlier this year.

Filing for offices starts Monday morning and runs next week at the county auditor's office in the courthouse.
