Lady Mules show improvement

The Wahkiakum Mules softball team lost two this week but Coach Stephanie Green sees improvement in her young team every day.

The Lady Mules lost to Rainier on the road on Friday, 17-2.

“The girls played really well even with having to play against the umpires that were very critical of our pitching,” Coach Green said. “Any somewhat close calls were outs. Girls kept fighting and I am proud of them for how they fought and kept fighting.”

Jordyn Watson hit a double.

On Tuesday in Napavine, they lost 23-2.

Napavine ran and stole us to death,” Coach Green said.

Cecelia Williams connected twice, Mary Jane Neves had two hits, and Breyonna Montgomery had one, Green said, adding that Heidi Bruntmyer, Williams, and Neves had good stops resulting in outs.

“The girls are really growing. Each time they play they get better,” Coach Green said.
