Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

Now is the time to speak up

To The Eagle:

Since I moved here 12.5 years ago (a newbie), I have heard that the government doesn’t listen to Wahkiakum County. We now have a chance for the state government beyond our legislators to hear us. The Democrats and Republicans (yes, working together for positive change for our county) are sponsoring a Listening Tour March 15 at the Skamokawa Grange starting at 6:15 with a dessert potluck.

The Listening Team will be led by Don Schwerin, Chair of State Democratic Party Rural and Ag Caucus plus Small Business Caucus. The Moderator will be Don Cox, high school teacher. High school principal Stephanie Leitz will be one of two notetakers. People can voice concerns and hand in surveys at the Skamokawa Grange Friday night. Afterward the audience can rate suggestions by priority using colored stars as a ranking system on notes taken during this stop on the tour. All surveys will be used to inform state policy and write conclusions. The conclusions will be presented at a commissioners meeting to be announced. Now is the time to speak up to voice concerns!
