Olsen headed to playoffs

Wahkiakum alum Baylee Olsen is headed to post season play with the California State University San Marcos basketball team.

Olsen, a senior guard for the Cougars, is averaging 6.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. She scored 15 points in a win against Concordia of California and 13 points against Humboldt State. She still holds the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Division 2 record for the most consecutive three’s in a game with seven, and the record for most consecutive three’s without a miss at 11 while playing at Saint Martin’s University.

Olsen’s senior night will be celebrated this Saturday at 1 p.m. The Cougars are the fourth seed team in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Division 2 regionals. Their first playoff game is scheduled for Tuesday. If they win, the team will travel to Cal State East Bay for the Final Four single elimination playoff contest on March 8-9.

Olsen made the Dean’s List this fall and is majoring in Criminology. She is the daughter of Bill and Shelley Olsen of Cathlamet.
