Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
As time often does, it seems to be flying by this week. Garden beds will be prepped, seeds will be planted, and crops will be shared throughout our community. Something truly magical happens when you get your hands into the soil. Whether you are a seasoned green thumb or are new to gardening, mark your calendar for March 9. The annual seed sharing event this year will be something everyone can enjoy. This will be a fun opportunity to meet your neighbors who are Master Gardeners, share some seeds and envision what you will grow this year.
Tying in perfectly with what needs to grow, next Thursday, February 7 at 1 p.m., will be the first planning meeting regarding the Summer Lunch program. We invite anyone who is interested in developing this program to ensure our county’s youth have access to healthy lunch while they’re out of school. Many hands make light work and volunteers and coordinators are needed. Last year was a great success and many children were greatly benefitted.
Today and every Thursday Sandra Sews gathers from 10-12. Anyone who is interested in knitting and crocheting should stop by. Movie night will not be happening for the month of February, creating a great window of opportunity for Friday nights to anyone who would like to teach a class or host an event at the center. For details on how to use the community center, give us a call or stop by and visit.
“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” M.O.
Be well, Wahkiakum!
