Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
It's official! Rex Czuba and Javier Sanchez are the new owners of the River Mile 38 Brewery Co. in Cathlamet.
"We are excited to continue the legacy of the previous owners and look forward to feedback from the community on how we can make the brewery even better," Czuba and Sanchez said.
All the licenses needed to own, brew, and run River Mile 38 have been transferred to Czuba and Sanchez, and the former owners, Steve Sharp, Richard Erickson, Andy Lea, and Rob Stockhouse are pleased.
"This is an exciting day for Cathlamet, Wahkiakum County, and the original owners," Erickson said. "This move to new ownership will bring new life into our brewery, with new products, and new events."
"We have loved every minute of building a brewery that our community is proud of and brewing beers that people love," Sharp said.
According to Sharp, the original owners have been helping with the transition, and Lea says they will return to assist as they are needed.
"We will continue to help the new owners to ensure the quality and wonderful flavor of our beer remains consistent for our customers and the 80 bars and restaurants that offer RM38 beer," Lea said.
Live music has been a special part of the River Mile experience, and that will remain, said Stockhouse, who has acted as the music director.
"Rex and Javier are engaged with local musicians and have contacts for outside talent for exciting new events," Stockhouse said.
