Wahkiakum basketball teams traveled to the east side of the state last week to play Colfax and participate in a tournament hosted by Colton, a 1B school.
On Thursday, the boys basketball team lost to Colfax 64-54.
“I’ve seen a lot of improvement on the defensive end the last couple games, which has been our focus,” Coach Todd Souvenir said. “We tied things up at 49 and had a couple chances in the last four minutes of the game but we couldn’t capitalize and ended up falling to a very good Colfax team.”
Quentin Nelson led the team with 18 points and seven boards. Brody Carlson added 11 points. Jake Leitz and Isaac Moon scored six points apiece. Luke Brown had four points and Evan Quigley had four points and nine boards. K.C. Beery scored three points and Logan LaBerge finished the game with two.
Carson Cloaninger scored 26 for the Bulldogs.

On Friday, the Mules beat Colton 54-53 on the first day of the Colton Christmas Tournament.
Brown scored 30 points to lead the Mules. He also had seven rebounds. Carlson had eight points and seven rebounds. LaBerge and Nelson contributed five points each. Quigley, Leitz, and Beery finished the game with two points apiece. Leitz had nine boards and Beery had seven.
Reese Chadwick and Parker Druffel combined for 45 of the Wildcats' 53 points.
