Thieves make off with ambulance

Downriver Dispatches

From a Wahkiakum County Sheriff Department Bulletin:

"WE NEED YOUR HELP!

"Sometime between Tuesday night December 11th and early morning Wednesday December 12th, the Grays River Fire Hall District #3 was broken into and a blue and white ambulance was stolen. The ambulance was discovered abandoned on Kandoll Road with doors and compartments left open. A lot of medical emergency equipment was stolen. We have no leads at this time. We need your help to identify any suspect who may have been involved in this crime. If you have any information please call Undersheriff Gary Howell at the Wahkiakum County Sheriff's office. He can be reached at 360.795.3242 Ext. 6 Thank you for your help."

According to Fire Chief Rob Maki, the theft occurred sometime after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening. The locks have been changed and new keys will be issued to the volunteers. It is a sad occurrence when those who have dedicated their lives in helping others should have the very tools ripped away from them. If anyone knows anything about this abominable act, please contact the sheriff’s office immediately at 360-465-2202.
