Kerry Grohs

Kerry Dean Grohs was born in Chehalis, Wa. on, Apr. 17th, 1962 and taken into the hands of the lord on, Nov. 24th 2018 at 4:20pm, (shortly after he asked what time it was). He is preceded in death by his father, Larry E. Grohs, and brother, David Allen Grohs. After a year and a half battle with lung cancer, Kerry succumbed to the illness and crossed into the spirit world surrounded by his loving family, at Rick Hickey Hospice house in Vancouver Wa.

Kerry was the youngest of 3 children born to Shirley May Grohs (Toney) and Larry E. Grohs. He attended Baptist school until the 7th grade when he enrolled in Cathlamet Middle School and later attended Natural High. He worked most of his life as a roofer, and many local residents are sheltered from the rain beneath roofs that he built. He also worked as a traveling salesman, traveling the United States and selling supplies to motel chains, and getting to see much of the USA , a part of the job which he found most enjoyable and rewarding. He especially loved New York.

Kerry will be remembered for his kindness and generosity, his charming wit, his great sense of humor, and his heart of gold. He enjoyed shooting pool with his friends, bon fires, traveling, walking on the beach, riding motorcycles, going to the casinos, and spending time with family playing cards games, such as pinochle and cribbage. His shining personality and charisma, made it easy to like Kerry, and as a result, he had many friends who affectionately dubbed him, "Wolfy", a nick name he was proud to have.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley May Toney and step father Paul Toney, a sister Vicki Rae Jacobson, 2 step sisters, Brenda Chester and Rayeanne Toney, 2 nephews, Levi Godwin and Matthew Goodlataw and a niece, Jennifer Newton.

Although mourning in pain, loss, and sorrow, may last for a time, the loving memories of Kerry in the hearts of those who knew him, will be cherished forever. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.

A service will be held on Fri. Nov. 30th at 3:00 pm, at The Salvation Army, 1639 10th Ave Longview Wa. Also, a wake celebrating Kerry's life will be taking place at the Oregon Way Tavern, 446 Oregon Way, Longview, starting at 7:00pm. Rest In Peace, Loving Son Brother and Uncle.
