Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891
A group of people are starting a local Toastmasters Group to improve their leadership skills, speaking and listening skills in a peer supported setting.
The meetings are held at noon on Mondays at the Hope Center (320 third) in Cathlamet. Two mentors, Patrick Locke and David Shehorn, from Toastmasters International are working with the club to guide members through their speeches and learning speaking skills as well as listening skills. Anyone is invited to the club.
Once the club reaches 20 members, it can be certified as an actual club. People attending are excited about the opportunities, and enjoy the challenges.
One exciting area that will be explored is how to run meetings, using Roberts Rules of Order, which will be of benefit to many in the local area. For information, feel free to contact Sue Cameron, 503-812-2436 or suecam88@gmail.com.
