Rosburg Store celebrates grand opening

The Rosburg Store grand opening last Friday was more than the opening of a store.

One had to be there to have the experience that was more like a family reunion. Everyone gathered there had the look of excitement on their faces like little children ready to open their Christmas presents.

The Wahkiakum Chamber of Commerce, represented by Director Meg Morris, Coordinator Megan Kuhl, and Treasurer Matt Kuhl, sponsored the event. Director Meg Morris presented the ribbon and scissors to Roni Miller who did the cutting. Also representing the County of Wahkiakum to welcome the Miller family to the area were Sheriff Mark Howie and county Commissioner Blair Brady.

Although the event was scheduled from noon until 1 p.m., many arrived earlier and left later including myself. Some of those in participation lived outside of the county but remembered the Rosburg Store when it was nearer the river and then the move to its present location in 1951.

For those who are tired of the run of the mill hamburger, Chef Landen Miller does something that is rare anywhere. He grinds his own beef and weighs each burger patty. Every burger comes on a Kaiser roll and is a delight to see. His homemade potato salad was awesome.

That's dedication to freshness. He prepared pleasant finger food for the gathering.

All are welcome to come and have lunch or dinner at their pleasant tables. Now the Wahkiakum County residents have another place for the community's needs.
