Practice burn set for Sunday

The Puget Island Fire Department will be burning a house on East Sunny Sands for a training exercise on Sunday.

They plan to close the road, approximately 200 yards from the burn site at 250 E. Sunny Sands, in both directions from 10-4 on Sunday, October 28.

The department will be using the structure for interior training in the morning, and plan to burn the house in the afternoon, according to PIFD Chief Mike Beutler.

All fire departments in the county have been invited to the training exercise.

The house was donated by Bert Bauer. The PIFD has been using it for training the last couple months with the use of a smoke machine. They have been doing ventilation drills and practicing search and rescue.
