Marie Fauver of Grays River, Washington died October 4, 2018, at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria, Oregon at age 87. Marie was born in Astoria, Oregon on September 15, 1931. She was the daughter of Hjalmar and Mabyn (Shane) Klint.
She enjoyed growing up in the family farm in Grays River where she lived her entire life. Marie received her education at Rosburg Grade School and Naselle High School where she graduated in 1950. Marie and James H. Fauver were married in 1950.
Marie had several different occupations, including running the family farm, waitressing and cooking at local restaurants and finally retiring as a cook for the Naselle School District in 1991. She was known for her delicious cinnamon rolls among the students in Naselle.
Marie enjoyed reading and working genealogy on her computer. She corresponded regularly with relatives in Sweden, Portland, Oregon, and Minnesota as she researched James H.'s family roots. Marie enjoyed attending the Naselle Friday Club playing scrabble and working puzzles with friends. Attending Sunday services at the Grays River Methodist Church was special to her.
Survivors include daughter Elaine (Fauver) Wirkkala, husband Gary, granddaughter Angie Wirkkala and husband Tim Calvert of Olympia, Washington, great-grandchildren Abby and Lauri Calvery, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James H., grandson Marc Wirkkala, brother George and a sister Kathleen.
A graveside service will be held at Grays River Cemetery on October 20, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., followed by refreshments at the Grays River Methodist Church. Viewing will be at Penttila's Chapel by the Sea on October 19, 2018, from 12 to 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grays River Methodist Church, P.O. Box 52 Grays River, WA 98621.
