N/GRV School Board Notes

The Naselle-Grays River Valley School District Board of Directors met for its monthly meeting on October 16 in the Middle School Commons.

In personnel matters, the board approved the hire of Kimberly Jensen, bus driver and the resignation of Rob Baker, cross-country coach.

An out of area teaching assignment was approved for Qin Xia.

Several WSSDA Policies were adopted: 1400 Meeting Conduct, Order of Business and Quorum, 3122 Unexcused and unexcused absences, 3143 District Notification of Juvenile Offenders, 3144 Release of Information Concerning Student Sexual and Kidnapping Offenders, 3241 Classroom Management, Discipline and Corrective Action, 3412 Automated Defibrillators, 3413 Student Immunization and Life Threatening Health Conditions, 3414 Infectious Diseases, 3416 Medication at School, 6220 Bid Requirements, 6610 Surveillance cameras, and 6630 Driver Training and Responsibility.

The board accepted fuel bids from Wilcox & Flegel and Ferrell Gas. Overnight stays and out of district travel were approved for fall sporting events and school functions.

The board approved purchase authority for a school van not to exceed $25,000. A list of items was approved for surplus. This list will be posted on the district's website. In final action items, wage adjustments were approved for classified and non-represented staff, along with supplemental contracts for the 2018-19 school year.

Principal of the Youth Camp, Gary Flood, reported his building‘s goals for the school year.

School board member Amy Chadwick briefed the board on recent seminars she had attended to discuss legislative priorities set by the Washington State School Directors Association and Superintendent of Public Instruction, Chris Reykdal.

The next school board meeting will be on November 20 in the Middle School Commons, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
