Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:
October 1 — 8:56 a.m. A cow appeared to be injured in a Skamokawa field. The owner was notified. 9:03 a.m. Visitors to Vista Park reported that several items had been stolen during the night. 9:43 a.m. A caller asked to speak to a deputy about someone bringing drugs into a hospital in Longview. He was advised to contact the Longview Police Department or security at the hospital. 1:34 p.m. An erratic driver was seen on SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. 4:54 p.m. A homeowner in Deep River requested extra patrols after a handyman she had hired to replace flooring and drywall and allowed to live in the home during the project became a problem. The owner said the handyman had caused damage, tried to sell the home, stolen some items and broke in after moving out. 6:42 p.m. A goose with a possible broken wing was seen on a Puget Island road. A deputy responded. 7:51 p.m. A theft was reported at a Skamokawa home.
October 2 — 9:48 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported two missing cats. She said a neighbor had threatened to kill them in the past. 5:38 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who had fallen. 6:38 p.m. A motorist was cited for driving with a suspended license. 10:29 p.m. A Puget Island resident said she had been followed home from Longview and that the vehicle was still there driving past her home repeatedly with the occupants screaming and honking the horn.
October 3 — 6:25 a.m. An individual was seen siphoning gas from a vehicle parked on a Cathlamet street. 7:40 a.m. A bus stop in Rosedale was vandalized. 11:29 a.m. A welfare check was requested for some children in Rosedale who had not attended school for several days. A deputy discovered that the family had moved to Oregon. 2:09 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance, the District 4 Fire Department, and a deputy aided a woman who had fallen and gotten stuck in a ditch in the Elochoman Valley. 4:35 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a domestic disturbance was reported at a Cathlamet home. 9:23 p.m. A deputy “escorted” a black bear off a Skamokawa property.
October 4 — 6:48 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. The individual refused transport to the hospital. 9:28 a.m. A caller complained about dogs barking constantly at a Cathlamet home. A deputy spoke with the homeowner and would make contact with the dog owner later. 10:07 a.m. An individual was taken into custody after vandalizm and theft were reported in Cathlamet. 10:53 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported a missing dog. 11:40 a.m. A welfare check was requested for an Elochoman Valley resident. 2:24 p.m. A power outage was reported at Town Hall in Cathlamet after a boat allegedly hit power lines. The PUD was notified. 2:34 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a clinic patient with high blood pressure. 4:29 p.m. Two callers reported a strange man approaching young children at a Cathlamet school. 8:27 p.m. An erratic driver was reported to be traveling west on SR 4 on the east side of KM. 11:23 p.m. Extra patrols were requested at the fire hall in Skamokawa.
October 5 — 7:20 a.m. A caller in Skamokawa reported an aggressive dog that belonged to a neighbor was knocking over her garbage and dragging it all over her yard. 9:24 p.m. A representative from Child Protective Services said she would be visiting a home in Skamokawa after a complaint had been made. 11:51 a.m. Tree limbs were blocking the westbound lane of SR 4 in the Grays River area. State patrol was notified. 4:07 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that someone had used her debit card fraudulently five times. 5:25 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was complaining about pain on her left side.
October 6 — 1:05 a.m. A renter complained that she had been harassed and given an hour to remove her items from a property in Cathlamet. 2:07 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident requested assistance after locking his keys in his house. 7:58 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident after he suffered a heart attack. 11:09 a.m. A caller reported seeing a dog that appeared to be neglected in the Rosedale area. 11:19 a.m. A caller reported that a power line was hanging in the Rosedale area. The PUD was notified. 11:23 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported a burglary. 11:52 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with a bleeding problem. 3:26 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 3:58 p.m. An outside agency asked the sheriff’s office to contact a Skamokawa resident after his vehicle was reported to be involved in a hit and run accident in Sandy, Ore. 7:15 p.m. A Puget Island resident asked for assistance after finding a deceased deer on his property. 9:22 p.m. A caller reported a motorcycle without taillights traveling on an Elochoman Valley road.
October 7 — 9:13 a.m. A caller reported that a mushroom picker had gone missing the night before on the east side of the county. He was located by a deputy at 10:17 a.m. 11:52 a.m. A caller reported losing a wallet in Cathlamet.
